The McNair Scholars Program at Indiana University is committed to helping students prepare for graduate school and the professoriate.  To promote this success, the program requires participation in certain activities appropriate to all future graduate students and offers optional services to meet the individual needs of each Scholar, individually.

TEACHING
(for McNair Scholars who have completed their junior year)

  • Microteaching
  • Teaching internship or observation

Graduate School Application
Support
(for McNair Scholars who have completed their junior year)

  • Senior Summer Camp (5 days)
  • Preparing personal statement
  • Graduate school visits
  • GRE general exam course (8 weeks)
  • Practice interviews
  • Fellowship application support
  • Individual consultation on personal statement

 

*Needs assessment considers the following skills:  critical reading, critical thinking, time management, basic research, interpersonal skills, metacognition, organization, writing, teaching and presentation.
