The McNair Scholars Program prepares participants for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. Participants are from low-income/first-generation backgrounds, or underrepresented groups and have demonstrated strong academic potential. Each year, McNair Scholars participate in academic year and summer activities including research and professional seminars. The goal is to increase the attainment of Ph.D. degrees by students from underrepresented segments of society.
The McNair Scholars Program is fully funded by a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Indiana University contributes cost share funds over the same five-year period.
